Tis the season for spring Galas in Salt Lake. This past weekend I was invited to join my friends from Every Blooming Thing (my go-to for all things floral) at their Ririe-Woodbury Gala table. It’s always fun to get dressed up and spend the evening with community members who are giving back to the arts. And the wonderful thing about galas for dance companies – you get a one-of-a-kind performance. The Gala was held at the Natural History Museum, with a view looking out over the whole valley. The grand hall of the museum is uniquely split between three or four gradual levels. These levels are separated by small bannister-like platforms of wood, which creatively became the spaces for the performance element. The dancers were talented, the food was delicious, the dinner company was fabulous, and the decor was lovely. Overall – a stunning night.
Shakespeare said it best: "The world's a city full of straying streets." If you just wander, it's amazing what you'll find and where you'll end up.
